Road Raging Bulls

Road Rage is the subject that has intrigued me so much. It is a universal problem, but with my observation from where I am, is different from where you might be from.

I was born and bred in Alexandra, Johannesburg, South Africa. And until I graduated from University, that is when I first heard the words “Road Rage”. I never understood what they meant. Someone tried to explain them to me. And I’m going to be frank, that explanation never made any sense for me.

So --- I opened my eyes and looked. And this is what I got out of that observation.

“Road Rage” is another way found to express all that is unfinished business the society have, entirely, and what stands out more in this observation for me, is apartheid. Racism.

In most cases, this ‘Road Rage’ often happens between black and white. The same colour you are, the ‘less’  drama and the different colour you are, the worse. In Sandton, they will just punch their hooters in their cars and whisper something from the inside. While, the moment they hit Louis Botha, windows are opened, gestures are shown, names are thrown. And it just becomes World War VII.

Taxi drivers do the same thing. In the Township, they kind of behave, but loose it when they get to Sandton, they want to prove a point. Personally, I will never ever fall into that trap. You hit me with a hooter in Sandton just because my car is too slow, good for you, I cannot make it faster. It is slow. You overtake and give me a sign (middle finger), “Nice nails”, I will just say.

This entire sickness is caused by pride, anger and power. These are the sickest deadliest diseases.  I have seen unnecessary traffic caused by stupid people with pride. I would be in a taxi and the driver would ask the guy next to him to let him through, the guy will force to close off the gap. Had he allowed him, the traffic would have flown a bit. The sad part is, there is no white person who drives a taxi, would have loved to see how he would be treated by all the motorists.

Anger - You cannot be angry just because someone said or did something now. You can only be angry if this is not the first time it happens or being said to you. So, if you wake up in the morning, fight with me by the robots just because I forgot to indicate, it just don’t make sense to me. Why would you be angry at me while it is the first we see each other? Do you have a problem --- generally? Either you have always hated the person you encountering at those robots and never got a chance to express that and now you using this to your advantage or you just too stupid to deal with your issues. How on earth can you just curse at a stranger just because they forgot to indicate or was thinking and the robot closes while one has been standing there? Why anger? Why violence?

Taxi drivers have no problem with no one. They are just dumb like that. We all know it. Anyone fighting these guys by doing what they do, you ought to be part of them. Patience is virtue. Ignorance is bliss.

People are just power hungry. Anger is the mother of this --- Power. Anyone who shows off their anger they just want to be seen. Nobody ever listens to an angry soul. Calm down and speak your mind. Power, this one will forever be there. Every driver just think they are better than the other. Well, all of you are dumb. Stupid old people with empty heads. Use your common senses. The type of a car you are driving does not make you the King of the road or the Queen, it just makes you another motorists. I do not care who you are, if it is not a right of way for you, chill, please. Your turn is coming.

Pastors, politicians, teachers, doctors etc. You all graduate but still stupid. Your children are watching, either you seal the deal in this dumb unfinished business you have with each other or accept what you are hiding from within. The truth. Every time I’m in a taxi, they always badmouth anybody who has made it, it is worse when it comes to Whites. When a taxi stops next to a BMW driven by a whitey, they hate. I know that Whites does the same, when that same BMW stops next to a full loaded taxi, they look straight and whisper to each other and when the robot goes green, they get the freedom to laugh and look at the taxi again, if possible, make a funny face or something. It all begins there.

My point in this thought is that, we are finding ways of practicing the dead and gone illness. We have substituted some words to suit the time, but they still mean or does the same thing.

“Road Rage” is another way found to express all that unfinished business the society have, entirely, and what stands out more in this observation for me, is apartheid. Racism.

Wake up, South Africa.
